Maroon Tigers Pull Off Gutsy 81-78 Win Over Kentucky State

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Morehouse College basketball team defeated Kentucky State in an gutsy 81-78 win on Saturday afternoon in Forbes Arena.

The Maroon Tigers improve to 7-5, 4-1 SIAC, while the Thorobreds fall to 5-7, 2-3 SIAC on the season.

The first half was a game of runs that saw both teams shoot over 50 percent from the field. Sophomore guard Chris Brown (Atlanta, GA) led Morehouse in the first half with 10 points as both teams went into the locker room knotted at 48-48.
Olmert paced the Maroon Tigers with 11 second-half points to help MHC hold on for the gutsy win.
 
Turning Point
After KSU had their largest lead of the game at 25-17 with 11:46 remaining in the first half, MHC used a 20-7 run to take charge at 37-32, a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Individual Leaders
Senior guard Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) led the Maroon Tigers with a double-double as he scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while senior guard Michael Olmert had a game-high 19 points.
Kentucky State was led by Kevin Wharton-Price who had a team-high 15 points in the loss.

The Maroon Tigers take a short break for the holiday and return to action in the new year on January 4th as they travel to Birmingham, Alabama to take on the Golden Bears or Miles College. Tip off for this game is set for 4 p.m.
