Smith Earns SIAC Player Of The Week Honors

ATLANTA, GA – Morehouse College freshman Phillip Smith earned Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Tennis Player of the Week honors for his performance this past week versus Fort Valley State released by the league office on Wednesday.

Smith (Washington, D.C.) won two singles matches against Fort Valley State last week. Smith won his first match 6-3, 6-1 and his second match 6-2, 6-2. Smith also teamed with Shelton Sutton to win both of their doubles matches 6-1, 6-1.

The Maroon Tigers are currently sporting an 8-1 overall record and 8-0 in the SIAC, travel to Fort Valley, Georgia to play in the SIAC East Round-up on Friday as they take on the SIAC's defending champion, Benedict College at 10:30 a.m. followed by a match versus western division foe Spring Hill College at 2 p.m.
