February 1, 2011 – ATLANTA – #Jonathan Tassin# poured in 22 points and topped four Maroon Tigers in double figures, as Morehouse downed the Fort Valley State Wildcats, 82-76.
Tassin, a junior transfer from Pontiac, MI, was easily the difference in this seesaw game with 17 ties and eight lead changes. The 6'-7” forward hit 6-of-8 three-pointers and scored 16 in the second half.
Clutch free-throw shooting by #Christopher Clarke# helped put the game on ice for Morehouse. The Temple University transfer sank 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, in the game's final 23 seconds.
After starting the season at 1-6, the Maroon Tigers have won five of seven, improved to 6-8 (6-6 SIAC) and are one win away from tying last season's win total. The 2009-10 Maroon Tigers went 7-20 and lost in the first round of the SIAC tournament for the fifth straight year.
#Roderick Williams# continued the hot shooting that has him atop the SIAC accuracy list. Williams hit 6-of-7 shots and finished with 13 points, to go with three blocked shots.
Playing in only his third game, since transferring from Atlanta Metro, #Dana Kindrid# continued to impress fans and coaches with his quick leaping and inside scoring. Kindrid chipped in 14 points and handed out a team-high five assists.
#Austin Anderson# had his best scoring game since early December, when he had back-to-back 15-point games. The freshman from Inkster, MI hit 5-of-8 shots, for 11 points, in only 14 minutes of action.
Four Wildcats scored in double figures and Fort Valley sank to 5-14 (5-10 SIAC).
Morehouse will host the conference-leading Benedict Tigers 12-5 (12-3 SIAC), Thursday, at 7:30 p.m.
