Tigers Win 2-of-3; Butcher Named POW

March 26, 2012 – ATLANTA – The Morehouse baseball team is coming off its best weekend of the year. The Maroon Tigers won two of three games against the Lane College Dragons and Bryan Butcher was named the SIAC East Division's Player of the Week.

Butcher, a native of Portland, OR, went 7-of-13 from the plate, scored five runs and drove in seven runs, while also stealing four bases on four attempts.

Though primarily a catcher, Butcher has established himself as one of the team's most versatile performers, playing third base, short stop and the outfield.

In the three-game series, the 5'-11” senior hit. 538 and finished with a .750 on-base percentage and a .950 fielding percentage.

Game One: Lane 10 – Morehouse 7

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but surrendered four runs in each of the next two innings and put themselves into a hole from which they couldn't recover.

Game Two: Morehouse 17 – Lane 6

Morehouse scored six runs in the first inning and poured it on the rest of the way, for their highest run total of the season. Pitcher London Scott got the win.

Game Three: Morehouse 19 – Lane 6

Pitcher Kale Blackshear got the win, as Morehouse pounded out 14 hits to surpass the previous day's season-high run total.
