Box Score

December 5, 2013 – SALISBURY, NC – The Maroon Tigers turned the ball over 26 times, surrendered a 12-point second-half lead and lost to the Livingstone College Blue Bears, 72-64.

Fifteen of those turnovers came in the second half, where loose play and foul trouble earned Morehouse a fourth loss, to go with two wins.

Morehouse outshot Livingstone from the field (45-39 percent) and tied in rebounds, with 43, but were undone by the miscues and giveaways.

Early in the second half, the Tigers extended the lead to 12 points, on the strength of D'Anthony Relaford. The transfer from Georgia Perimeter College scored five points in four minutes and ended with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The rally was short-lived and the Tigers' hopes of a first road win were dashed when the Blue Bears went on a 34-14 scoring spree down the stretch.

Three newcomers came up big in this game. Tyrone Brown, David Buchannon and D'Anthony Relaford combined for 25 of Morehouse first-half points.

Brown, who finished with 12 points, collected all of his eight rebounds in the first period. Plagued by foul trouble, he was limited to only 23 minutes.

Buchannon matched his season high of 10 points and collected four rebounds and two assists.

This was the Tigers' second loss to a team from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Morehouse lost to Johnson C. Smith, 73-66, and beat Virginia Union, 70-64, in the HBCU Tipoff Classic, held at Forbes Arena, last month.

Cornez Nesbitt had 14 points and tied with Askew for a team-high nine rebounds.

Austin Anderson and Robert Askew, Morehouse's leading scorers combined for seven points.

Eric Mayo led the Blue Bears to their fourth win without a loss. Mayo's 18 points and 10 rebounds were game highs, as were his two blocks.

Morehouse travels further north into North Carolina, to play Elizabeth City State, Saturday, at 7 p.m.
