Box Score January 7, 2016 – FRANFORT, KY – Five Maroon Tigers posted double figures, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Kentucky State Thorobreds, who outran Morehouse, 91-87.
Two other Tigers scored nine points each, as Morehouse matched its highest scoring total of the season.
Under doctor's orders, head coach Grady L. Brewer missed the first game of the four-game road trip. He is listed as day-to-day and may join the team for Saturday's game. In his absence, assistant coach Douglas Whittler is handling the coach duties.
Despite trailing most of the game, Morehouse kept it close with 48 percent shooting from the field. The Thorobreds matched the Tigers' hot shooting with their own 48 percent and won the game on the free throw line. The Breds hit 24 of 29 free throws, compared to the Maroon Tigers' 12 of 24.
KSU's Dorian Jordan and Kevin Shaw combined for 7 of 8 free throws in the final minute to seal the win for the Thorobreds.
Morehouse center Robert Askew came off the bench to post his third consecutive double-double. Askew sank 7 of 9 shots, for a team-high 16 points, to go with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Michael Hall improved over his last two games where he totaled nine points, pouring in 4 of 6 shots for 12 points and adding six rebounds.
Martravious Little got back into the starting lineup and contributed 11 points and two rebounds. Javarius Gay and Miodrag Minic each chipped in 10 points. Minic's seven rebounds helped Morehouse record a 46 to 31 rebounding advantage.
Michael Scott had nine points and four rebounds and freshman Kendell Walker, playing in only his second game, collected nine points, four assists and three rebounds.
The Maroon tigers travel to Wilberforce, OH, Saturday, at 3:30 p.m., to face the Central State Marauders.
