ATLANTA, GA – Deborah Rodgers has been named the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Morehouse College. She will oversee NCAA institutional control and adherence to NCAA and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules and regulations. Rodgers Officially started her position in August.
Rodgers brings almost 10 years of NCAA DII experience to Morehouse. Rodgers previously served as the associate athletic director of compliance at SIAC member, Miles College, since 2012 where she oversaw the initial eligibility for new student-athletes and continuing eligibility for returning and transfer student-athletes. While at Miles she chaired the Miles College Compliance Committee and co-chair of the SIAC Compliance Committee. She also hosted clinics and camps throughout the Birmingham community.
Prior to joining the administrative team at Miles, Rodgers was the head coach of the women's volleyball and men's and women's track and field teams while also serving as the assistant women's basketball coach from 2010-2012.
Rodgers was a star basketball and volleyball player at Fort Valley State from 2003-2007. She was captain on the volleyball team for three years and led the SIAC in kills and blocks for three consecutive years. Rodgers also served as captain of the Lady Wildcat basketball team for two years helping lead FVSU to three consecutive SIAC Tournament Championship Games. She was named to the SIAC All-Conference team for two years in basketball and three years in volleyball. Rodgers was honored as Female Athlete of the Year and SIAC Player of the Year in volleyball, and numerous Most Valuable Player awards, while attending Fort Valley State University.
Rodgers, a Birmingham, Ala., native earned her degree in Criminal Justice (2007) from Fort Valley State University.
She is a member of the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and also the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (NACDA).
