ATLANTA, Ga. - Morehouse College alumni, Jerome Boger (class of 1977), will lead the NFL's first all-Black officiating crew this evening in a matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Ram on Monday Night Football.
Boger who played quarterback for the Maroon Tigers in the 1970s, and a 17-year veteran NFL official, will be joined by umpire Barry Anderson, side judge Anthony Jeffries, line judge Carl Johnson, down judge Julian Mapp, field judge Dale Shaw and back judge Greg Steed. The seven-member crew will be making history marking the first time an all-Black officiating crew will officiate an NFL game.
"I am proud of my heritage and excited about my participation in this historic game," Boger said in a statement. "The opportunity to work with a great group of Black officials and exhibit our proficiency in executing our assignment is something I am really looking forward to."

"This historic Week 11 crew is a testament to the countless and immeasurable contributions of Black officials to the game, their exemplary performance, and to the power of inclusion that is the hallmark of this great game," Troy Vincent, a former NFL player who is now the league's executive vice president of football operations, said in a statement.
During his career, Boger led the officiating crew as the referee during Super Bowl XLVII in 2013 between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.
"I am humbled to stand on the shoulders of the black officials who paved the way for me, especially Johnny Grier, whose #23 I wear today," said Boger. Grier began in the NFL as a field judge in 1981 before becoming the first African-American referee in the history of the NFL with the start of the 1988 NFL season. He was the field judge in Super Bowl XXII the same game in which Doug Williams became the first African American quarterback to win the Super Bowl.
Tonights game will kick-off from Tampa, Florida at 8:15 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN.
