Andrews 29 Leads Morehouse To Win Over Fort Valley State, 72-68

ATLANTA, GA – Senior guard Robert Andrews scored 29 points to lead the Morehouse College basketball team to a 72-68 win over Fort Valley State University on Monday evening in Atlanta, Ga.

The Maroon Tigers improve to 11-11, 8-7 SIAC, while the Wildcats fall to 6-19, 4-12 SIAC.

FVSU got off to a quick start leading 5-0 before Andrews (Detroit, MI) erupted for MHC's first 14 points of the game while finishing with 20 points in the first half including 6-of-7 from three-point range helping Morehouse build a 41-24 lead going into the locker rooms.

The second-half saw the Maroon Tigers build their largest lead of the game at 46-26 with 18:41 remaining. Fort Valley State outscored MHC 42-26 the rest of the way but could not overcome Andrews hot shooting, dropping the game 72-68.
 
Turning Point
With FVSU mounting a ferocious comeback and cutting the MHC lead to just four, Andrews connected on his eighth three-pointer of the game with :49 remaining putting the Maroon Tigers ahead for good at 70-63.

Individual Leaders
Andrews led Morehouse with a game-high 29 points (8-of-11) shooting including (8-of-10) from behind the arc and grabbed five rebounds, while Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) nearly had a triple-double as he finished with 13 points, 11 assist and seven rebounds. Jordan Sterling ( ) came off the bench and chipped in with eight points.

The Wildcats were lead by Shawn Foxbrennen who finished with a team-high 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds in the losing effort.

The Maroon Tigers return to action this Saturday, February 8th as they travel to Savannah, Ga. to take on Savannah State University. Tip Off is set for 3 p.m.
